FSC Certification announcement

It is with great pride and pleasure we announce that as of February 1, 2008 we have received our FSC certification as a Chain-of-Custody (COC) partner. At ARTCO it has been and continues to be our goal to improve our products and manufacturing procedures towards becoming a more “green conscious” company.

Having this FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) certification means that we have in place the correct and proper systems and procedures which will allow us to monitor and track paper that is purchased with the FSC certification. It shows we are part of a “chain-of-custody” that can trace the particular paper all the way back to the forest and trees from which the paper was manufactured. It insures the end user that the product produced which carries the FSC printed logo came from a managed forest, a forest which uses environmentally safe methods of cutting and has an approved tree replanting program.

We are proud to join the small elite group of commercial printers in New England who hold this certification, are committed to minimize our impact on the environment and are dedicated to employ the latest policies and practices to meet this challenge.

This FSC certification dovetails very well with our current environmentally conscious programs such as our closed-loop press water purification/filtration and replenishing system to our use of soy based inks, our internal material and paper recycling programs and our chemical waste recovery system.

In today’s world we are constantly being reminded of our impact on our planet and can see for ourselves the changes occurring in our environment. Each of us, as individuals and as members of a company, has a responsibility to do our part as stewards of our natural resources.

Our commitment at ARTCO is to produce high-quality printed pieces while insuring that these products conform to manufacturing standards which meet the challenges of using our natural resources in a responsible and conservation-minded way.

Our FSC certification is a banner that we are very proud of, one that we will hold high.
