ARTCO OFFSET has been a supplier of quality offset printing to colleges, universities, and non-profit organizations in New England for more than thirty years. We know the challenges you face producing high quality publications in a fast-paced environment. Typically, there is no shortage of projects: mailings, catalogs, brochures, exhibitions, special events, et al. Your standards are high, schedules are tight, and funds are limited. When proofs return from the printer, last minute changes (Author's Alternations: AA’s) often occur and can put you under pressure and over budget. Sound familiar? ARTCO has created a system to help:
the Author’s Alteration Protection Plan
ARTCO has developed a unique AA PROTECTION PLAN exclusively for the academic and non-profit communities to help protect you against the cost overruns associated with last minute changes (AA’s). We will now cover the cost of those changes on any job you print with us for up to 5% of our in-house costs above your estimate. In effect, its like having an additional 5% “emergency fund” built into every job you print with ARTCO -- at no cost to you. For example, on a job estimated at $2,500, we will cover you for up to $125 in AA’s. On a $5,000 job, you’re covered for up to $250. A $10,000 job would have protection up to $500, and so on. Author’s Alterations above 5% would be billed to you as usual.
Only ARTCO Offers Protection Against The Cost of Last Minute Changes
Examples of changes not covered by the AA Protection Plan would be an increase in the quantity of the print run or a change in your deadline requiring overtime work. Changes in paper (stock requirements) which occur after the stock you originally specified for the job has been received are not covered, to the extent that we cannot return the stock to the manufacturer for credit or replacement. Costs for AA’s above 5% of our estimate are not covered, and are the buyer’s responsibility.

WHAT IS COVERED
BY ARTCO's PROTECTION PLAN
Author’s Alterations (AA's) covered by this plan include changes to any job printed by ARTCO OFFSET for a college, university or other educational institution. AA’s which are covered include any changes which are required after ARTCO has started work on your job. Covered changes include the cost of type corrections, layout and photo modifications, computer time, new negatives and new proofs. We will even cover the cost of last minute changes on press, including color changes (ink), and new printing plates if necessary, all up to 5% above your original estimate.
ARTCO is the ONLY printer to offer this protection as a regular, ongoing program to educational and non-profit institutions.
